During the summer and early fall, our deck, with its little “pool”, becomes an informal raccoon-kit kindergarten – the mama raccoons bring their offspring to splash in the water and climb on Dan’s hollow-log playscape, and we have hours and hours of fun spying on them with our cameras.
Mama raccoons are endlessly patient and their little ones are endlessly playful, and the mama and kit in this video are both living up to their reputations. The kit is tiny, still at the wobbly-walking stage, and the mama is a veteran with Buddha-like calm (and proportions). The kit wants to play, the mama doesn’t. And that’s about all there is to say about this very short but very sweet video.
