When gray foxes are happy together and feeling affectionate they swish their tails, roll around on their backs, and generally make beautiful little fools of themselves.
Dolly, our local matriarch, is usually very restrained. Public displays of affection are not her kind of thing. But on a recent coolish summer morning here, she let it all hang out. She, her mate Pale Fox, and another adult who should know better, swished, romped, rolled, and behaved like little kids.
It was over in seconds but it made our hearts glad to see them so happy, so we’re sharing it with you all here.
