Pound for pound (or should that be ounce for ounce? Or gram for gram, for our non-US viewers?) hummingbirds may be the crankiest critters in the world.
In this very short video we see a female black-chinned hummingbird, who was peaceably enjoying a little lunch, being attacked by a passing male. It all happened so fast that it’s impossible to see what’s going on unless you watch the slow-motion version.
The final frame, which shows the birds’ colors quite beautifully, is worth hitting pause on.
