A year or so ago Dan built a fantastic hollow-log playscape beside the raccoon pool on the deck. The raccoons climb around in it and on it when they’re tired of paddling in the pool. The little ones, especially, love playing on it and seem to have enormous fun.
A couple of the hollow logs are big enough to accommodate 2 baby raccoons, but that doesn’t always mean that it’s a good idea to pile on in there after one of your siblings. The sibling might object and then where are you? Head down in a tight space with no choice but to reverse out, and that’s a lot easier said than done.
The little raccoon in this video made the mistake of going in after his sister. He did eventually manage to extract himself from the log, after a lot of leg and tail flailing, but not with his dignity intact.
